Box Score
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Senior
Kevin Anglin (Endicott, Mass.) scored a pair of
goals on direct kicks Wednesday evening, and Tufts University went
on to defeat Plymouth State University, 5-0, in non-conference
men's soccer action under the lights at Panther Field.
Anglin's first goal, a bender around the Panther defensive wall,
gave the Jumbos a 1-0 lead less than 10 minutes into the
contest. It stayed a one-goal game for the duration of the
first half, but Anglin's second strike, again curled around the
Panther wall and past a diving goalkeeper, made it a 2-0 affair.
Tufts slowly pulled away in the second half. Senior
Dan Jozwiak (Boulder, Colo.) knocked in a rebound
in the 62nd minute after junior Peter
DeGregorio (Whately, Mass.) hit the crossbar with his
shot. Senior Greg O'Connell (Cohasset,
Mass.) made it a 4-0 game with a goal with seven minutes remaining,
and freshman Alex Lach (Lexington, Mass.), who
assisted on O'Connell's goal, finished off the scoring for Tufts
with just under two minutes remaining.
PSU had a couple of good scoring chances in the second half, as
senior Keith Whittemore (Holderness, N.H.) was
twice sent through the Tufts defense with lead passes from
teammates, but both times his shot glanced off the crossbar.
Junior David McKeon (Loudonville, N.Y.) earned the
shutout victory in the Jumbos goal, making five saves. Tufts
finished with a slim 16-15 advantage in shots.
