Box Score Laliberte leads Panthers with two
goals
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Junior Sam
Laliberte (Concord, N.H.) scored two goals Thursday
afternoon as the Plymouth State University women's soccer
team broke a five-game winless streak with a 4-0 non-conference
victory over Lyndon State College at Panther Field.
Laliberte recorded her second two-goal game of the season, having
already done so against another Vermont school, Green Mountain
College. Juniors Amy Green (Atkinson, N.H.) and
Charlotte Miller (Bedford, N.H./Bishop Brady) also
scored goals for the Panthers, who improve to 4-7-0 on the
season. Lyndon State suffered its fourth straight loss and
fell to 4-5-1.
PSU junior goalies Angelina LaBroad (Hampton,
N.H.) and Courtney Lins (Fremont, N.H.) combined
on the shutout, each playing one half and each making two
saves.
The match was scoreless for the first 31 minutes until Laliberte
put the Panthers on the board. Freshman Cassie
Graham (Foster, R.I.) took a shot that Lyndon State junior
goalie Samantha Smith (North Haverhill, N.H.) deflected off the
cross bar, and Laliberte knocked the rebound into the back of the
net for a 1-0 lead. Six minutes later, Green redirected a
corner kick from freshman Shannon Snively
(Fremont, N.H./Sanborn Reg.) from along the right baseline and into
the goal for a 2-0 Panther lead at the half.
Laliberte added her second of the game just two minutes into the
second half, again knocking in a rebound after several good saves
by Smith. Miller, who assisted on Laliberte's second
goal, finished off the Panther scoring four minutes later with her
first of the season.
Smith was solid in the Hornets goal, finishing with 13 saves, as
PSU finished with a 27-6 advantage in shots.
