PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Second-seeded Plymouth State University was back in the Little East Conference (LEC) Women's Tennis Tournament championship match, but top-seeded Rhode Island College was too strong, topping the Panthers, 5-0, to capture its fourth-straight at RIC Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon.
Plymouth State was appearing in the title match for the second time in three years, also coming up short against the Anchorwomen in 2018. Plymouth State ends its season with a 7-3 mark, while RIC (9-0) earns the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament in two weeks.

How it Happened:
- Senior Maggie McCarthy (Marion, Mass.) and sophomore Kira Winter (Eliot, Maine) dropped an 8-2 decision at No. 1 doubles, while sophomore Megan Marshall (Dartmouth, Mass.) and freshman Camilla Puzio (Holden, Mass.) fell by the same score at No. 3 doubles.
- Seniors Kerstin Venincasa (Sutton, Mass.) and Jenna Sundquist (Monument Beach, Mass.) were shutout at No. 2, falling 8-0.
- McCarthy fell at No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-0), while Venincasa dropped No. 4 singles (6-0, 6-1) to account for the final score.
By the Numbers:
- All three of the Panthers' losses this season came at the hands of RIC.
- Plymouth State didn't surrender a team point to anyone else this spring.
- PSU was the only team to score against the Anchorwomen this season, securing two team points on Apr. 30.
- Plymouth State was making its third appearance in the LEC Tournament finals, winning its lone tournament title in 2014.
