PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Freshman
Sophia Torello (Killingworth, Conn.) tallied four saves but Westfield State University spoiled Plymouth State University's season finale, 5-0, on a rain-soaked Panther Field on Wednesday afternoon.
Torello made an initial reaching save to tip the ball over the crossbar early, but the Owls were able to score three first half goals for an early lead.
Freshman
Molly Bellmore (Hebron, Conn.) sprang into action in the final half when she fired a shot at the Westfield State goal but could not break through the defense. The Owls tacked on another two goals to account for the final score.
Plymouth State closes the season with a 5-8-3 overall record, while the Owls head into the MASCAC Tournament as the top seed with a 12-3-1 mark.

How it Happened:
- Torello made her first save with a reach to tip the ball over the crossbar, but the Westfield offense rebounded and was able to get on the board for a 1-0 lead.
- Graduate student Kaliana Palhof (Loudon, N.H.) and senior McKayla Palhof (Loudon, N.H.) both tried for goals to respond, but the Owls took it right back to snag another two scores to make it 3-0.
- The Panthers had a spark of momentum as graduate student Taylor Siewierski (Colebrook, N.H.) took a shot right to the top corner but it was saved by the opposing goalkeeper to keep the 3-0 lead heading into the second half.
- Bellmore opened the second half with a scoring chance but it was to no avail as the Owls' defense stood its ground and moved the ball downfield to extend the lead to 4-0.
- The visitors added another goal late in the half to account for the final score.
By the Numbers:
- Plymouth State was outshot by a 20-11 margin.
- PSU accounted for seven of the 17 corner kicks earned.
- Torello finished with four saves.
