DARTMOUTH, Mass. – Junior
Bri Wilcox (Londonderry, N.H.) scored a game-high 18 points and added six rebounds and four steals, but the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth overpowered Plymouth State University, 84-49, in a Little East Conference (LEC) women's basketball game at Tripp Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Corsairs, who are receiving votes in this week's D3hoops.com poll, lead wire-to-wire, though Plymouth State was able to keep pace for much of the opening quarter. UMD used a 13-5 spurt over the final minutes of the frame to build a 27-14 lead at the end of the first.
UMass Dartmouth continued to expand the margin through the middle quarters. Plymouth State won the fourth quarter, but the margin was too large to overcome.
Plymouth State goes to 5-3 (1-1 LEC), while the Corsairs jump to 7-1 (2-0 LEC).

How it Happened:
- The Corsairs opened with the game's first seven points, but senior Sabrina Vlahovic (New Hope, Pa.) drained a triple and graduate student Lea Crompton (Dunbarton, N.H.) sank a pair from the free throw line to pull within 7-5 after three minutes.
- Freshman Ashley Stephens (Pembroke, N.H.) sank a jumper to make it 14-9 with 3:30 left in the opening quarter, but the Corsairs scored 11 of the next 14 points, with Wilcox hitting from long range for PSU's points.
- UMD held a 27-14 lead after one.
- The Corsairs' defense stifled PSU through the first half of the second quarter, with senior Lauren Keller (Fort Morgan, Colo.) snagging a steal and scoring on a putback midway through the frame for the Panthers' first field goal of the second.
- UMass Dartmouth extended the margin to 52-24 at the half.
- PSU limited the Corsairs to just 12 fourth-quarter points, but the margin was too large to overcome.

- Keller chipped in eight points and was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.

- Sophomore Raegan Peck (Dudley, Mass.) finished with four assists.
- The stifling UMD defense limited the Panthers to 28.8% shooting (17-of-59) for the game.
