CASTLETON, Vt. – Freshman
Christa Giansiracusa (Tewksbury, Mass.) compiled three saves in a 1-0 setback to Vermont State University Castleton during Little East Conference (LEC) women's soccer action at Dave Wolk Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams were stout on defense, allowing only ten shots on goal in total throughout the game. Giansiracusa made her first save early in the fray and tallied two more in the second half to keep the Panthers in the fight to get on the board first.
As the game entered its final minutes, the Spartans slipped through the PSU defense and won a one-on-one scenario to lock in the final 1-0 score.
PSU goes to 4-8-0 (1-4-0 LEC), while VTSU Castleton stands at 7-6-1 (3-2-0 LEC).

- Junior Olivia Howard (Berwick, Maine) made a few attempts at a goal nearing the end of the half, but the opposing defense was too stiff and responded with a block and two saves.
- Plymouth State put pressure on the Spartans in the second with a couple more shots, but VTSU Castleton eventually found its way through the PSU defense to score the lone goal.
- In a last-ditch effort, senior Tindra Bergstrand (Taby, Sweden) took a header shot off a corner and Howard snuck one last attempt before the clock hit zero, but VTSU Castleton held on for the victory.
