LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – The Plymouth State University men's soccer team cruised to a 6-1 win over the Vermont State University Lyndon Hornets in a non-conference match on Varsity Soccer Field Saturday afternoon.
The Panthers scored three goals in each half as seniors
Faisal Abdallah (Accra, Ghana),
August Westerholm (Stockholm, Sweden), and junior
Nils Skogestig (Saltsjö Boo, Sweden) led the way with a goal and an assist each for Plymouth State.
Rounding out the scoring for the Panthers were senior
Walter Driscoll (Kittery Point, Maine), junior
Lucas McCarthy (Richmond, Va.), and freshman
Colby Cowan (Oakdale, Conn.) with a goal each, while senior
David Nilsson (Karlstad, Sweden) and sophomore
Hunter Holland (Hampton, N.H.) tallied an assist in the winning effort.
Plymouth State improves to 6-8-2, while the Hornets close out their season with a 1-12-1 record.

How it Happened:
- Abdallah wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as his goal put the Panthers up 1-0 in the first minute of play.
- Driscoll doubled the advantage (2-0) two minutes later on a ball rifled past the Hornet goalkeeper.
- Plymouth State increased the scoreline to 3-0 in the 12th minute on a Westerholm goal, his first of the season.
- The Panthers continued to dominate play closing out the first half with a three-goal advantage.
- With a comfortable lead, the Panthers were poised to keep possession as each team recorded a single shot in the first 15 minutes of the second half.
- Good build-up play manufactured the Panthers' fourth goal as Cowan broke through 1-on-1 after several connected passes to put the game out of reach.
- The Hornets spoiled the shutout scoring in the 70th minute to bring the score to 5-1, a small victory to take home in the team's final game of the season.
- Plymouth State scored its final two goals in the 64th and 78th minutes, respectively.

- The Panthers outshot VTSU Lyndon 24-3.
- Plymouth State overpowered the Hornets by an 11-3 margin in shots on goal.

- It was the second time this season where Plymouth State produced six different goal scorers in a single match.
- Abdallah has now reached 20 points in a season for the second time in his career and his 65 points are two shy of breaking into the top ten in total career points in Plymouth State men's soccer history. His goal puts him alone in eighth all-time for PSU with 28.
