DANBURY, Conn. – Senior
Maddie Lorenz (Jefferson, N.H.) rallied for a three-set win at No. 5 singles as Plymouth State University cruised to a 6-1 victory over Western Connecticut State University in a Little East Conference (LEC) women's tennis match at the Westside Courts on Saturday.
The Panthers swept doubles play and locked up the team win behind straight-set singles victories from juniors
Chloe Ahern (Middleton, Mass.) and
Sofia Orama (Marlborough, Conn.), sophomore
Lauryn Corrigan (Littleton, N.H.) and freshman
Sidney Huff (Port Orchard, Wash.).
Lorenz dropped her opening set, 3-6, but bounced back with a dominant 6-1 second set before outlasting her opponent in the deciding ten-point tiebreak, 10-6, to help seal the PSU victory.
WestConn's lone point came in a marathon No. 1 singles battle, where senior
Alyssa Craigie (Gilford, N.H.) fell just short in three sets – 6-7 (5-7), 6-4, 4-10.
Plymouth State improves to 2-7 (1-5 LEC), while the Wolves slide to 3-10 (1-6 LEC).

How it Happened:
- Craigie and Orama opened with a 6-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while Ahern and Corrigan matched the score at No. 2.
- Lorenz and Huff teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 3 doubles, giving PSU its first doubles sweep of the season.
- Ahern rolled to a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, and Corrigan dominated at No. 4 with a 6-0, 6-2 victory to make it 3-0.
- Huff clinched the team win with a convincing 6-3, 6-1 performance at No. 6.
- Lorenz rebounded for a 3-6, 6-1, 10-6 win at No. 5, while Orama held off her opponent at No. 3, 6-4, 6-3.
- Craigie narrowly missed completing the sweep, coming up just short in a pair of tiebreakers, 6-7 (5-7, 6-4, 4-10.
