FB: Quinn, Castonia earn major awards, five Panthers named All-MASCAC

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Five members of the Plymouth State University football team and head coach Paul Castonia were honored as the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) announced its major award winners and all-conference teams on Thursday.

Senior Sean Quinn (Norwood, Mass.) earned the league's top offensive line honor, being named Offensive Lineman of the Year while also securing All-MASCAC First Team Offense as a tackle. He was joined on the First Team Offense by junior Jack Claeys (Melrose, Mass.) at center, junior Jacob Morris (Kennebunk, Maine) at tight end, and graduate student Gregory Walker (Boxford, Mass.) at running back. Graduate student Braden Lynn (Littleton, Mass.) was recognized on both sides of the ball, earning First Team Defense as a punter and Second Team Offense as a quarterback. Castonia was also honored as the MASCAC Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career.

Plymouth State's 8-2 finish marked its best record since the 2022 team went 9-2 and captured the New England Bowl title. The Panthers posted a 7-2 conference record, earning a share of the MASCAC regular season championship – the program's second since joining the league in 2013.

Sean Quinn – Offensive Lineman of the Year; First Team Offense (Tackle):
  • Started all 10 games on the offensive line.
  • Key blocker in a rushing attack that totaled 2,107 yards, one of just two MASCAC teams to surpass 2,000 yards rushing.

  • Earns First Team recognition for the second straight year.

Jack Claeys – First Team Offense (Center):

  • Helped PSU allow the second-fewest sacks in the conference.
  • Line also surrendered the second-fewest tackles for loss in the MASCAC.

Jacob Morris – First Team Offense (Tight End):
  • Provided clutch plays throughout the season – both as a pass catcher and blocker – including a highlight-reel Hail Mary grab to rally past Worcester State in September.
  • Finished with 152 receiving yards (12.7 yards per catch).
  • Scored four touchdowns on 12 receptions.
  • Earns his second postseason honor after a Second Team nod last year.

Gregory Walker – First Team Offense (Running Back):

  • Scored 11 rushing touchdowns – second-most in the conference – and did not lose a fumble in 123 carries.
  • Ranked second in the league in scoring (74 points) on 12 touchdowns and one 2-point conversion.
  • Secures his first career postseason honor.

Braden Lynn – First Team Defense (Punter), Second Team Offense (Quarterback):
  • Multi-threat weapon able to beat teams with his arm and extend plays with his feet.
  • Completed 92-of-150 passes (61.3%) with 15 touchdowns and only two interceptions. Leaves as Plymouth State's all-time leader in completion percentage (61.4%).
  • Added five rushing touchdowns, including a pivotal 66-yard, fourth-quarter score in a win against Framingham State on Nov. 1.
  • Averaged 40.6 yards per punt with four inside the 20 and two 50-plus-yard kicks.
  • Previous accolades include 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year and 2023 Second Team Offense.
