PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University women's basketball team opened Little East Conference (LEC) play against a strong Rhode Island College squad, falling 72-52 in Foley Gymnasium on Saturday.
RIC, picked second in the LEC Preseason Coaches' Poll, was tested throughout as the Panthers kept battling back throughout the game before the Anchorwomen pulled away in the fourth.

Plymouth State falls to 7-2 (0-1 LEC), while the Anchorwomen improve to 7-2 (2-0 LEC).

How it Happened:
- PSU opened strong, jumping out to a 7-2 lead in the first three minutes.
- RIC answered with a 15-2 run to take a 17-9 lead after one.
- The Panthers stayed within 23-16 with 4:43 left in the half.
- The Anchorwomen closed the frame on an 11-4 spurt to take a 34-20 lead at the break.
- Plymouth State used a seven-point run to cut the deficit to 37-27 with 6:19 remaining in the third.
- RIC responded again with a 9-2 burst to push the margin to 46-29 with 3:17 left.
- PSU clawed back to within 48-36 in the final minute, but RIC hit a buzzer-beating three to take a 51-36 lead into the fourth quarter.
- The Anchorwomen pulled away in the final quarter to close out the game.

- RIC attempted 13 more field goals (67-54).
- PSU shot 81.8% from the free throw line (9-for-11).
- The Anchorwomen held a 42-33 rebounding advantage, including 16-8 on the offensive glass.
- RIC's bench outscored PSU's reserves, 32-10.
