PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University women's soccer team was defeated by the Norwich University Cadets, 2-1, in a non-conference matchup on Panther Field in a Tuesday matinee.
The game proved to be a chess match, as the teams produced just one shot on goal through the first 60 minutes of play – a goal scored by the Cadets in the 29th minute.
Plymouth State equalized in the 81st minute on a goal from senior
Julia Filep (Manchester, N.H.) which looked to earn the Panthers a point, but a late header off a Norwich corner kick in the 89th minute proved to be the game-winner as the Cadets secured the win.
The Panthers tallied nine corner kicks while holding Norwich to four but PSU could manage just two shots on goal through the duration of play. Plymouth State will be hungry for more as Little East Conference play opens this weekend.
Plymouth State falls to 2-2-0, while Norwich improved to 2-1-1 on the season.

How it Happened:
- There wasn't much action for either team to open play. The Cadets managed a pair of half chances, but the teams remained scoreless through the first 20 minutes.
- The Panthers had their first scoring opportunity in the 21st minute as a strike narrowly missed the right post.
- Norwich struck first on its first shot on goal to take a 1-0 in the 29th minute.
- Play remained mostly in the midfield as the Panthers managed two shots in the first half, taking the one-goal margin into the halftime break.
- The Panthers pinned Norwich back into its defensive end but could not break through with a scoring opportunity, as the team trailed 1-0 with time winding down.
- Plymouth State pulled even in the 81st minute as Filep slotted home the equalizer past the diving goalkeeper.
- The Panthers pushed numbers forward, sensing the opportunity to come away with the win, but a long ball played behind the PSU back line awarded Norwich a corner kick with less than two minutes to play. The Cadets threw numbers forward and headed home the game-winner off a floated ball played to the back post.
