WB: Malozzi posts double-double, but Warriors surge late

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior Hailey Malozzi (Maynard, Mass.) continued her strong stretch of play with an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double, but Eastern Connecticut State University pulled away from Plymouth State University in the fourth quarter for a 73-55 Little East Conference (LEC) women's basketball decision at Foley Gymnasium on Saturday.

The Warriors used a late first-quarter run to carry a 23-15 lead into the second quarter, but Malozzi scored 10 second-quarter points as the Panthers cut the margin to six, 40-34, at halftime.

Eastern Connecticut pushed the lead into double digits in the third quarter, but PSU closed the frame on a 6-1 spurt to make it 52-46 entering the fourth. The teams traded baskets through the opening three minutes, before the visitors used a 14-1 surge over the next five minutes to seize control.
