The Beavers pushed for the equalizer, but Matta and PSU's back line turned away multiple chances over the final 20-plus minutes. UMaine Farmington earned a corner kick in the closing seconds and put the ball into the net off a deflection to pull even with just seven seconds remaining.

How it Happened:
- Both sides jockeyed for field position throughout the first half, though neither generated a clear scoring opportunity.
- Perez Ramos broke through in the 63rd minute to give the Panthers a 1-0 lead. Freshman Michael Mezzetti (Lake Placid, N.Y.) sent a ball to the top of the box, where Perez Ramos took a touch before rifling a shot to the top-right corner.
- A Beavers defender cleared away a dangerous cross from sophomore Nick Ferro (Smithfield, R.I.) in the 74th minute to preserve the one-goal game.
- Ferro nearly doubled the lead in the 81st minute on a breakaway. Matta sent a goal kick to midfield, where Ferro raced past the defense and into the box, but his left-footed attempt toward the near post was denied by the Farmington goalkeeper.
- The Beavers nearly equalized on a counterattack with less than three minutes to play. UMaine Farmington strung together three quick passes up the right side. Matta came out to challenge, but the cross got past him, though the forward was unable to get a foot on the ball.
- UMaine Farmington pulled even in the closing seconds when a corner kick deflected into the net with just seven seconds remaining.
