NEW ORLEANS, La. – The Plymouth State University men's and women's outdoor track & field teams remained ranked in the top 25 in the Northeast Region as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) released its fourth Track & Field Rating Index (TFRI) of the season this week.
The women slipped one spot to No. 21 in the region with 84.65 points, while the men moved down one place to No. 22 with 53.87 points.
Sophomore
Ani Flynn (Plymouth, N.H.) accounted for a significant majority of the women's points after clearing 1.58 meters in the high jump at the Sean Collier Invitational at MIT last Saturday. Her mark ranks fifth in the region. Freshman
Lisi Palmer (Brunswick, Maine) posted a top-30 regional mark in the 400 meters at the Middlebury Invitational, crossing the line in 1:00.84, while juniors
Abby Bergeron (Essex, Vt.) and
Rose Karow (South Yarmouth, Mass.) recorded top-50 times in the 800 meters and 1,500 meters, respectively.
For the men, senior
Zach Hodge (Springfield, N.H.) delivered a standout performance in the 400 meters at Middlebury, clocking 50.20 to rank 17th in the region. Other regionally ranked performances came from freshmen throwers
Parker Wood (Alton, N.H.),
Enzo Valenti (Montville, Conn.), and
Kellen Bateman (Exeter, N.H.). Wood's mark of 13.06 meters in the shot put ranks 31st, followed by Valenti at 36th (12.86m) and Bateman at 37th (12.85m).
The TFRI is a complex mathematical system used as the benchmark to rank collegiate track and field teams since 2008.
Plymouth State travels to Eastern Connecticut State for the Little East Conference (LEC) Championship on Saturday (Apr. 25).
