PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Graduate student
Chase Anestis (Belmont, N.H.) earned all-conference honors, and six members of the Plymouth State University wrestling team received academic recognition as the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) released its postseason awards.
Anestis was named All-NEWA Honorable Mention and was joined on the NEWA All-Academic Team by senior
Nick Savariego (Hillsdale, N.J.), junior
Jon Picon Ruiz (Central Falls, R.I.), sophomore
Cooper Carlson (Merrimack, N.H.), and freshmen
Gabriel Berger (Shoreline, Wash.) and
Noah Kittredge (Milford, N.H.).
Anestis, who also earned Honorable Mention recognition last winter, put together another strong season. He posted a 13-5 record with four pins despite missing significant time due to injury. He returned to the mat in time for the NCAA Division III Northeast Regional Championship, where he placed fifth – just two spots shy of qualifying for the NCAA Division III National Championship. A three-time place finisher this season, he wraps up his career with an 83-27 record, including 28 pins, while never being pinned.
