SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – Freshman Maya Sanzone (South Berwick, Maine.) started her collegiate career with a bang as she placed inside the top-20 to lead the Plymouth State University women's cross country team to a third-place team result at the NCAA Regional Preview hosted by Bates College at the Wainwright Recreation Complex on Saturday evening.
 
Sanzone was the first to finish for the Panthers on the 3.34k course as she clocked 12:44.1, good enough for 14th place. Senior Rose Karow (South Yarmouth, Mass.) was just behind her in 17th with a time of 12:51.3, while sophomore Emma Talon (Southington, Conn.) also finished among the top 20, crossing the line in 12:52.1 to place 20th.
 
The race featured 104 runners. Plymouth State finished third as a team and was one of two teams to have all five point-scorers finish among the top 20.
