Will Tifft began his first season as head track & field coach in 2024-25 after spending the previous eight seasons as the throws coach.

Under his direction, Plymouth State throwers have combined for eight Little East Conference titles and six All-New England honors, while Jacob Rigoli ’23 appeared at three NCAA Division III National Championships, becoming the first PSU thrower to both qualify for NCAAs and attain All-America status.

Rigoli set the school record in the weight throw at the 2021-22 NCAA Indoor Championships when his throw of 19.28 meters put him in the lead before he ultimately finished third. Tifft guided Rigoli back to indoor championships the following winter, where he finished fifth with a throw of 19.00 meters and earned another All-America honor. Rigoli also appeared at the outdoor championships that spring in the hammer throw.

Tifft helped Selena Baillargeon capture the first individual LEC title for the women’s program when she won the shot put at the 2016-17 LEC Championships. Baillargeon repeated the accomplishment during the LEC Outdoor Championships that spring, while Jillian Edwards won the conference title in the discus the following year.

Baillargeon owns the program records in the indoor and outdoor shot put, while Tifft also mentored Libby McIntyre ’24 to school-best marks in the weight throw and hammer throw. Every Plymouth State track & field throws record for both men and women has been sent under Tifft’s watch.

The 2024-25 men’s indoor team captured eight medals, with Dylan Flewelling ’25 earning LEC Track Athlete of the Year after winning three events. Clare Tuohy ’29 earned LEC Rookie Track Athlete of the Year for the women in 2025-26 after winning the 400 meters and finishing second in the 200 meters.

The women’s outdoor team also set program records for points scored and team finish at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championship in 2026. The performance was highlighted by All-Region honors for Amelia Lefebvre ’28 in the heptathlon and Lisi Palmer ’29 in the high jump. Griffin Massahos ’29 was a double All-Region honoree for the men, setting a program record in the 100 meters and taking eighth in the 200 meters, while Max Goodman ’26 earned All-New England honors in the 5,000 meters.

A 2014 graduate of Hamilton College, Tifft was a three-year letter winner for the Continentals’ indoor track & field team and competed in the hammer throw and discus outdoors. He earned conference honors and served as a team captain during both indoor and outdoor seasons as a senior, also earning the team’s Most Valuable Athlete and Coaches Award in his final season.
