Trevor Hamilton was named the head men's and women's ski coach in August 2019 after a career spanning nearly two decades as the program director for both the Loon Race Team and Franconia Ski Club.

In his time atop the program the Panthers have seen incredible success. Under his guidance, Plymouth State has had 16 skiers qualify for the National Collegiate Skiing Championships, including a full team of six racers (three men, three women) in 2021, where two earned All-America recognition.

Hamilton guided Max Haussmann ’25 to the national championships for the third straight season last March and brought three skiers to the championships in 2023 with Hanna Larsson Nathhorst ’26 and Tindra Bergstrand ’26 representing the women's team.

Haussmann finished 17th in the slalom at the NCAA Championships last spring, the fifth-best men's slalom finish in program history. He followed with a 22nd place in the GS in his final race as a Panther. He is one of just two men's skiers to qualify for the National Collegiate Skiing Championships three times.

In 2024, Haussmann claimed All-America honors in the slalom after finishing seventh, the highest-ever finish for a men's skier at NCAAs, while Larsson Nathhorst just missed All-America after taking 11th in both disciplines. Larsson Nathhorst claimed three straight individual carnival wins during the 2023 EISA season as Hamilton guided the women's team to its first full carnival team win at the Harvard Carnival GS. Larsson Nathhorst went on to earn EISA Rookie of the Year and All-East First Team recognition, while Haussmann was named All-East Second Team.

Hamilton guided a pair of women to the national championships in 2022 as Mathilde Nelles ’22 and Franny MacDonald ’24 made the trip to Park City, Utah. Nelles was making a second-straight appearance, while MacDonald burst onto the scene after missing the entire 2021 season recovering from injury. MacDonald took 21st in the GS and 27th in the slalom, while Nelles placed 26th in the GS.

Racing on the team's home mountain in 2021, Hamilton led Nelles and Hunter Watson ’22 to the first NCAA All-American finishes in program history. Nelles was a program-best fifth in the women's giant slalom, while Watson earned a ninth-place finish in the men's slalom a day later. Watson narrowly missed out on an All-American finish in the GS as well, taking 11th - a program best in the discipline at NCAAs among men's skiers. Plymouth State brought a full team of three men and three women to the championships for the first time in program history.

Hamilton made an immediate impression during his first season (2020) when PSU sent a full team of three men's racers to Nationals for the first time. Watson's 16th-place finish in the GS was the program best at the time, while PSU's other two racers also finished in the top 30. The championships were halted prior to the slalom, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hamilton had served as program director of the Loon Race Team since the fall of 2012, managing all aspects of the organization while also serving as head coach of the U10, U12, U14 and U16 programs, boosting program membership by more than 25% during his tenure. He coached two different New Hampshire Alpine Racing Association (NHARA) slalom champions, while earning multiple team championships for the program.

Hamilton also coached multiple U14 athletes to both U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association (USSA) Eastern Championships and Eastern CAN-AMs at Mont Tremblant, Sunday River Resort, Whiteface Mountain and Sugarloaf. Hamilton served as Eastern USSA staff for multiple regional events and brought two athletes to the Eastern U16 Championships in 2019, where one was the top seed in the slalom.

Prior to running the Loon Race Team, Hamilton spent 11 years at Franconia Ski Club. After five years of coaching, he was named the program director while continuing to coach, working with athletes from U12 local races all the way to U18s at National Championships. Under his direction, Franconia Ski Club hosted the Eastern Cup FIS and NHARA and USSA Championship events. In 2006, he was one of two Eastern Staff for the Whistler Cup National Development System project, where he was selected as course setter for GS.

Hamilton led three Franconia Ski Club athletes to the Whistler Cup, two to US Nationals and three to the Tropheo Topolino ski games in Italy, called “the most prestigious children’s ski event in the world,” by SkiRacing.com. He coached two athletes to Junior Olympic podiums, had multiple athletes race at JII Nationals and claimed several team championships at various levels.

A USSA Level 300 certified coach, Hamilton is also a Level 3 Referee, Chief of Course and Chief of Race certifications.

Hamilton inherited a program that has had at least one athlete qualify for the National Collegiate Skiing Championships each of the last ten years. Hamilton is the ninth head coach in program history, and the third since the program joined the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA) for the 2012 season.

Hamilton resides in Franconia, N.H., with his family, just minutes from Mittersill Ski Area, the home training facility for the Panthers.
