Dr. Sean Collins joins the men's and women's soccer staffs for the Fall of 2021 as the Director of Soccer Analytics. Dr. Collins and his doctoral students will head up the program's Sports Science work, specifically the use of GPS tracking and heart rate monitor technology and their direct relationships to physical, technical and tactical performance.

Also a Professor of Physical Therapy, Dr. Collins earned a BS in Exercise Physiology, MS in Physical Therapy and an ScD in Ergonomics (occupational stress, work physiology) and Epidemiology from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. Dr. Collins is interested in applying ergonomics, epidemiology and stress physiology to human performance modeling and sports analytics to improve athlete, team and club performance by creating data-to-decision support information pipelines for coaches, trainers and therapists. He is also interested in causal inferences for decision making in complex and unique situations.

Dr. Collins has over 50 publications and presentations in peer-reviewed journals, has presented at local, national and international conferences, was editor of the
Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy Journal from 2016 to 2021 and was awarded the Linda Crane Lecture Award in 2018 by the American Physical Therapy Association for making outstanding and enduring contributions to the profession.

Dr. Collins teaches clinical and functional anatomy, clinical physiology, clinical inquiry (statistical modeling and application of research to practice decisions) in Plymouth State's Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program, and has taught undergraduate courses in Anatomy and Physiology, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology and Exercise Prescription and PhD courses in Biomedical Engineering. While at UMass Lowell he provided decision support analytics to the strength and conditioning coach for the NCAA DI Hockey East champions and NCAA Frozen Four men's ice hockey team. He has had a lifetime of interest in soccer with experience as a player, coach and fan.

Dr. Collins lives in Boscawen with his wife Traci. They have two adult sons.
