Aaron Smith was hired as Equipment Manager for Plymouth State Athletics for the start of the 2021-22 academic year and has since taken on the role of Event Coordinator, overseeing the hiring, training and scheduling of a student workforce for home athletics events.
Smith completed his undergraduate degree in Sports Administration at Castleton University in 2018, then remained with the Spartans as a Graduate Assistant for Athletics and Recreation while completing his Master of Science in Athletic Leadership.
In his GA role, Smith was responsible for oversight and management of 13 Spartans' athletic programs and assisted with the organization and administration of championship tournaments and events for both the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) and the Little East Conference (LEC).
Additionally, Smith worked with the equipment manager for pregame and facilities, was an Intramural Intern and Co-Director, and produced and developed the university's intramural sports program manual.
Smith was a Sport Administration Intern as an undergrad, logging 450 hours while providing administration and field setup for over 70 sporting events. He supervised a group of 12 interns as part of a required 60-hour practicum in sport management, contributed to the athletic department's Equity in Athletics data analytics report and helped with game day prep, equipment and facilities.
Smith was a four-year pitcher for the Castleton baseball team that went a combined 128-46, including a remarkable 83-13 in the NAC. All told he posted a 6-3 record with six saves and a 2.82 career ERA over 76.2 innings to help the team to four-straight NAC Championships and NCAA Tournament appearances. As a senior captain he led the Spartans with four saves.
Smith also served as a member of Castleton's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and participated in the 2017 LEC SAAC conference.
