PSU Women defeat Mount Holyoke in Smith Volleyball Invitational

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. - Sophomore Eliza Badeau (Foster, R.I.) smashed a season-high 21 kills Friday night to lead Plymouth State University to a 3-1 victory over Mount Holyoke College in the first match at the Smith College Volleyball Invitational.

The Panthers took the first game, 30-18, but saw the Lyons come back to take game two, 30-25.  It was PSU from that point on, as the Panthers closed out the match with 30-15 and 30-25 victories in the next two games.

While Badeau was dominant, the Panthers also got 14 kills from junior Regan Bowlen (Portsmouth, N.H.) and 10 kills from junior Wendy Dziedzic (Nashua, N.H.). Senior Kirsten Willoughby (Plymouth, N.H.) chipped in with eight kills, and sophomore Brianna Kleckner (Terryville, Conn.) finished with 48 set assists.

The tournament continues on Saturday, and PSU's first match is against Rivier College at 11:00 a.m.
