PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The Plymouth State University
women's tennis team finished the regular season on a down note
Saturday afternoon with a 5-4 Little East Conference loss to
Western Connecticut State University in the regular season finale
at the P.E. Center Courts.
Freshman Lauren Post (Danbury, Conn.), junior Susie Kiselak
(Danbury, Conn.) and senior Cailin McGaughan (Oakville, Conn.) led
the Colonials with three wins apiece. Post won matches at No.
1 singles and No. 1 doubles, stopping the four-match winning streak
of PSU's top singles player, senior Jill Deyermond
(Atkinson, N.H.)
Deyermond teamed with freshman Buffy Garland
(Freedom, N.H.) for PSU's only victory in doubles. The teams
split the six singles encounters, with junior Meghan
Rodier (Francestown, N.H.), senior Briley
Boisvert (Goffstown, N.H.) and sophomore Denise
Huckins (Holderness, N.H.) collecting wins for PSU.
Plymouth State completes the regular season at 4-8 overall and 3-4
in LEC matches. WestConn is 2-6 overall and 2-3 in conference
matches, with three duals still to play.
Both teams will compete in the annual LEC Tournament next Friday
and Saturday at Rhode Island College. PSU is the defending
LEC Tournament champion.
