WALTHAM, Mass. - The Plymouth State University
volleyball team suffered a pair of defeats Saturday afternoon at
the Brandeis Judges Classic, hosted by Brandeis University.
The Panthers were defeated in three games by SUNY New Paltz (30-25,
30-20, 30-21), followed by a three-game sweep at the hands of
Gordon College (30-22, 30-28, 30-24). PSU, which also lost to
host Brandeis on Friday evening, finishes 0-3 in the tournament and
wraps up the regular season with a 19-10 overall record. New Paltz
is now 26-11 and Gordon 22-9.
Senior Kim Tobyne (Manchester, N.H./West) was
PSU's representative on the All-Tournament Team. She recorded 28
digs in the tournament, including 13 in the loss to SUNY New Paltz.
Sophomore Eliza Badeau (Foster, R.I.) continued
her strong play on Saturday, recording 13 kills against Gordon and
12 vs. New Paltz. Junior Sarah Spears
(Meredith, N.H.) had a match-high 27 digs against Gordon, and
sophomore setter Brianna Kleckner (Terryville,
Conn.) registered 66 assists in the two matches combined.
PSU will host a Little East Conference Tournament quarterfinal
match this Tuesday at Foley Gymnasium (6:00 p.m.) The
opponent will be determined after the completion of Saturday's
matches.
