SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore Eliza
Badeau (Foster, R.I.) pounded out 12 kills Friday night to
lead the Plymouth State University women's volleyball team to a
three-game sweep of Western New England College in the first match
of the Tom Hay Invitational, hosted by Springfield College.
PSU took the opening game, 30-20, but needed extra play to win game
two, 33-31. The Panthers put the match away with a 30-27
decision in game three.
Junior Wendy Dziedzic (Nashua, N.H.) added nine
kills to the Panther offense, and classmate Michaela Del
Rosso (East Providence, R.I.) contributed seven kills and
three blocks. Senior Kirsten Willoughby
(Plymouth, N.H.) chipped in with four blocks, and sophomore
Brianna Kleckner (Terryville, Conn.) registered 33
set assists.
The Panthers, who improved to 10-5, will play three matches in the
tournament on Saturday, facing Roger Williams at 9:00 a.m.,
Springfield at 1:00 p.m. and Western Connecticut at 3:00 p.m.
