PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Plymouth State University swept
all six singles matches Tuesday afternoon and posted an 8-1 victory
over Lyndon State College in non-conference women's tennis action
at the P.E. Center Courts.
Seniors Jill Deyermond (Atkinson, N.H.) and
Briley Boisvert (Goffstown, N.H.) and freshman
Buffy Garland (Freedom, N.H.) each picked up two
wins for the Panthers. Deyermond captured her fifth straight
victory at No. 1 singles and teamed with Garland for an 8-0 win at
No. 1 doubles. Garland was a winner at No. 4 singles, and
Boisvert captured her match at No. 2 singles after pairing up with
freshman Nikki Kolb (Gilford, N.H.) to win at No.
3 doubles.
Other Panther singles winners included sophomores Amanda
Arponen (Plymouth, Mass.), Denise Huckins
(Holderness, N.H.) and Melissa Castellano (East
Northport, N.Y.) at Nos. 3, 4 and 6, respectively.
Lyndon State's only decision came at No. 2 doubles, where sophomore
Sue Promphong (St. Johnsbury, Vt.) and freshman Becca Irwin
(Monmouth, Maine) pulled out an 8-4 win.
PSU, 4-7 overall, plays its final home match of the season this
Saturday against Little East Conference foe Western Connecticut
(11:00 a.m.). LSC, 2-5, returns home to host Mass. College of
Liberal Arts Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
