WESTON, Mass. - Plymouth State University captured
10 of the 14 events Saturday afternoon and defeated Regis College,
136-91, to pick up its first women's swimming and diving victory of
the season.
Three Panther swimmers captured two individual events apiece.
Senior Christina DiGiacomo (Meriden, Conn.) won
the 50 yard freestyle in 28.40 seconds and the 100 free in
1:00.88; junior Kaitlyn Milligan
(Forestdale, Mass./Sandwich) paced the field in the 50 breaststroke
(35.60) and 100 breaststroke (1:18.81); and sophomore
Tracey Posnick (Sharon, Mass.) touched first in
the 100 butterfly (1:10.00) and 500 free (5:53.15).
Other individual winners for Plymouth State included junior
Lindsay Osborne (Cedar Falls, Iowa) in the 200
yard freestyle (2:14.73); sophomore Caitlin Little
(Scituate, Mass.) in the 50 yard butterfly (30.31 seconds); and
freshman Alison Rotondo (Cumberland, R.I.) in the
1000 free (13:01.60).
The standout in the meet was Regis freshman Lindsay Ranahan
(Hingham, Mass.), who captured three individual events - the 50
yard backstroke (31.59 seconds), the 100 backstroke (1:07.71), and
the 200 individual medley (2:34.05).
Plymouth State, 1-1, is off for the Thanksgiving break, and will
return to action on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Little East Conference
Championship meet at UMass Dartmouth (11:00 a.m.)
