PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Junior Jillian Coache (New
Bedford, Mass.) and sophomore Bryn Morwick (Indianapolis, Ind.)
each won three individual events Wednesday evening to lead
Bridgewater State College to a 161-111 victory over Plymouth State
University in the final women's swimming and diving meet of the
semester at the PSU Natatorium.
The visiting Bears won 13 of the 14 individual events, while PSU
captured both relay races. BSC completes the semester with a
6-0 record, while the Panthers go into the break with a 1-3 mark.
Coache touched first for the Bears in the 50-yard freestyle in
26.65 seconds, the 200 free in 2:07.78, and the 100-yard butterfly
in 1:03.27, while Morwich was the winner in the 200-yard butterfly
(2:28.80), the 200-yard individual medley (2:24.34) and the
500-yard freestyle (5:44.22).
Junior Erica Robinson (Lynn, Mass.) and senior Jen Jackson
(Randolph, Mass.) were also double winners for BSC, Robinson taking
the 100- and 200-yard backstroke (1:07.92 and 2:26.04,
respectively) and Jackson with the high scores in the one-meter and
three-meter diving (221.30 and 219.95). Other winners for the
Bears included freshman Lindsey Hatton (Westfield, Mass.) in the
1,000 free (12:07.93); junior Katrina Scholtz (Amesbury, Mass.) in
the 100-yard breaststroke (1:17.92), and junior Sarah Fuller
(Palmer, Mass.) in the 100-yard free (58.32).
Freshman Lindsay Graham (Framingham, Mass.)
captured the only individual race for the Panthers, winning the
200-yard breaststroke in 2:47.85. She also placed second in
the 100 breaststroke in 1:18.54. Sophomore Caitlin
Little (Scituate, Mass.) finished second in the 50- and
100-yard freestyle, and senior Christina DiGiacomo
(Meriden, Conn.) was runner-up in the 200- and 500-yard free.
After a break for final exams and the holidays, both teams will
return to action in January. PSU hosts Bentley on Sunday,
Jan. 6 (1:00 p.m.) and BSC hosts Bryant on Wednesday, Jan. 16 (5:00
p.m.)
