WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. - Junior Katelyn Greene
(Westborough, Mass.) recorded two goals and an assist Thursday
evening as Castleton State College defeated Plymouth State
University, 7-1, in ECAC Women's East Conference action at
Waterville Valley Ice Arena.
The Spartans
scored four unanswered goals in the second period to turn a 3-1
game into a 7-1 contest, and neither team was able to score in the
third period. It was the final game of the semester for both
teams, and Castleton State heads into the break at 3-4-3 overall
and 2-2-3 in the ECAC East, while PSU drops to 0-8-0 both overall
and in the league.
Freshman Cassie
Koehne (Tonawanda, N.Y.) and Courtney Leavitt (North Andover,
Mass.) scored first period goals to give the Spartans a 2-0 lead.
PSU junior Amanda Kreamer (Lynn, Mass.) cut the
margin in half at the 11:41 mark with her first goal of the year,
but freshman Kate Gray (Northfield, Vt.) answered for the Spartans
five minutes later to make it 3-1 after one period.
Sophomore
Andrianna Riggio (Buffalo, N.Y.) and Greene tallied goals in the
first two minutes of the second period as Castleton extended its
lead to 5-1. Sophomore Maryanne Diehm (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.)
added a power play goal at 10:48, and Greene rounded out the
scoring with her second of the game at 16:22. Diehm also picked up
an assist on the evening, and sophomore Nicole Adams collected two
assists.
Junior Kalla
Robb (Manchester, N.H.) earned the win in the Spartan goal after
making 15 saves. PSU junior Lindsay DeLorie
(Holliston, Mass.) finished with 38 saves.
After a break
for final exams and the holidays, PSU returns to the ice on
Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Waterville Valley vs. Nichols College (6:00
p.m.) CSC plays again on Friday, Jan. 11, at Manhattanville
(7:30 p.m.)
