PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Sophomore Kerry
D'Ambroise (Lowell, Mass.) scored the only goal of the
game with just under 10 minutes left in the second half Saturday
afternoon and Plymouth State University went on to defeat the
University of Masschusetts Dartmouth, 1-0, in a Little East
Conference field hockey game at Arold Field.
Senior goalie Katie Randall (Portsmouth, N.H.)
made 15 saves, nine in the first half and six in the second, to
post her first shutout of the season. The Panthers won for the
first time in four outings this season, while the Corsairs suffered
their fourth loss in as many tries.
UMD had twice as many shots as PSU in the first half (10-5), but
neither team could score. The Corsairs also out-shot the Panthers
in the second half, 9-8, but D'Ambroise's goal, her first of the
season, won it for PSU. Junior Amanda Sherburne
(Rumney, N.H.) picked up an assist on the game-winning goal.
Corsairs goalie Seana Golden (Somerset, Mass.) also played a
solid game in goal, finishing with 11 saves.
The Panthers continue their four-game home stand Wednesday at
Arold Field, hosting Endicott (4:00 p.m.). UMD returns home to host
the University of New England on Tuesday (4:00 p.m.)
