PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Junior Hayley Janelle (Madbury,
N.H.) recorded 14 kills and six blocks Tuesday evening to lead
Endicott College to a 3-1 victory over Plymouth State University in
a non-conference women's volleyball match at Foley Gymnasium.
The Gulls pulled out a pair of tight victories in the first two
games of the match, winning 30-28 and 31-28. PSU came back to
capture game three, 30-24, but the visitors completed the win with
a 30-24 decision in game four. Endicott improves to 9-3 on
the season, while PSU drops to 6-2.
Sophomore Steph Wiese (Higganum, Conn.) and freshman Brittany
Phillips (Sudbury, Mass.) also contributed to the Gulls win with 13
kills apiece. Wiese and junior Brittany Nolan (Monroe, Conn.)
each made 18 digs, and senior Meghan Hall (Santa Cruz, Cal.)
finished with 49 set assists.
Senior Kirsten Willoughby (Plymouth, N.H.) and
junior Regan Bowlen (Portsmouth, N.H.) led the
Panther effort with 11 kills apiece, while junior Michaela
Del Rosso (East Providence, R.I.) added nine kills. Del
Rosso and Willoughby also had a solid performance at the net with
five and four blocks, respectively.
Junior Sarah Spears (Meredith, N.H.) chipped in
with 18 digs for PSU, and sophomore setter Brianna
Kleckner (Terryville, Conn.) finished with 36 assists and
a team-high five service aces.
Plymouth State visits Western Connecticut this Saturday for a 12
noon Little East Conference match-up (the match vs. Southern Maine
scheduled for this Saturday has been cancelled). Endicott is
back in action this Friday and Saturday at the MIT Invitational.
