PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Plymouth State University
swept Lasell University in three games in the semifinals, and
knocked off Emerson College in four games in the championship match
Saturday afternoon to capture the Days Inn of Campton
Volleyball Tournament, hosted by PSU at Foley Gymnasium.
PSU advanced to the semifinals with victories over Emerson and
Newbury Colleges on Friday night. The Panthers knocked off Lasell
in Saturday's semifinals, 30-18, 30-13, 30-12, and dropped the
first game against Emerson, 30-26, before pulling out the title
with three straight wins over the Lions, 30-18, 30-19, 30-22.
Junior Regan Bowlen (Portsmouth, N.H.) led the
Panthers with eight kills against Lasell and 16 kills and 15 digs
in the win over Emerson, and was named to tournament's Most
Valuable Player. Joining her on the All-Tournament Team was
sophomore Kathy Frankowski (Farmington, Conn.),
who contributed nine service aces and 17 digs in the two matches on
Saturday.
PSU, which won the tournament for the second straight year and
fourth time in the six years of the event, improves to 4-0 to start
the season. The Panthers are back on the court Tuesday with a 7:00
p.m. match at Colby-Sawyer.
