PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Bentley College set a pool relay
record and had five individuals win two events apiece Sunday
afternoon en route to a 164-112 victory over Plymouth State
University in a women's swimming and diving meet at the PSU
Natatorium.
It was the first meet in nearly a month for both teams.
Bentley improves its dual meet record to 4-2, while the Panthers
drop to 1-4.
Bentley opened the meet with a pool record in the 400-yard medley
relay, as senior Michelle Marbella (Waltham, Mass./Arlington
Catholic), junior Kaitlin Chepeleff (Vernon, Conn./Rockville),
freshman Anne Kaduboski (Dedham, Mass.) and senior Liza Connolly
(Washington, Conn./Shepaug Valley) won the race in four minutes,
22.84 seconds. That broke the previous mark of 4:26.98, set
by Plymouth State in 1995.
Senior Christina DiGiacomo (Meriden, Conn.) was a
double-winner for PSU, taking the 200-yard freestyle in 2:11.22 and
the 500 free in 6:00.07. The Panthers also swept the two
backstroke events, with sophomore Chaz Sweeney
(Methuen, Mass.) winning the 50 back in 31.01 seconds and junior
Christina Labriola (Westerly, R.I.) touching first
in the 100 back in 1:08.23.
The five double winners for Bentley were Chepeleff, Connolly,
seniors Arden Brust (Newark, N.Y.) and Kimiko Tanaka (Redding,
Conn./Joel Barlow) and freshman Emily Travers (Brentwood,
N.H./Exeter). Chepeleff captured the 100 yard butterfly
(1:06.07) and 100 breaststroke (1:13.85); Connolly won the 50 free
(26.32 seconds) and 50 fly (29.06); Brust finished first in the
1000 free (11:12.15) and 100 free (59.26); Tanaka took the 50
breast (35.79) and 100 individual medley (1:11.53), and Travers
swept the one- and three-meter diving (178.20 and 194.80,

The Panthers will host the annual Alumni meet next Saturday, Jan.
12, and return to competition with a home meet against Keene State
on Wednesday, Jan. 16.
