PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Freshman Meghan
Sullivan (Marlton, N.J.) and junior Eliza
Badeau (Foster, R.I.) combined to make 26 kills Wednesday
evening to lead third-seeded Plymouth State University to a 3-0
sweep over sixth-seeded Norwich University in a quarterfinal match
of the ECAC New England Women's Volleyball Tournament at Foley
Gymnasium.
The Panthers took the match with set scores of 25-15, 25-17 and
25-19, improving their season record to 20-14. Sullivan led the way
for PSU with 14 kills while Badeau added 12. Senior
Wendy Dziedzic (Nashua, N.H.) chipped in with nine
kills for the Panthers in the winning cause. Norwich completes its
season at 16-9.
PSU advances to the ECAC semifinals Saturday at top-seeded
Colby-Sawyer College, where they will play at 2:00 p.m. against
second-seed Johnson & Wales University. The Wildcats
advanced Wednesday evening with a 3-1 victory over seventh-seed
Worcester State College. Colby-Sawyer meets fourth-seeded
University of New England in the first semifinal at 12 noon, and
the championship match is slated for 5:00 p.m.
Sullivan and junior Kathy Frankowski (Farmington,
Conn.) shared team-high honors for PSU with three service aces
apiece. Frankowski and senior Sarah Spears
(Meredith, N.H.) each registered 11 digs, and junior
Brianna Kleckner (Terryville, Conn.) recorded 38
set assists.
Sophomore setter Molly Rice (Sunapee, N.H.) led
the Cadets with 10 assists, 10 digs and four kills. Junior
Lisset Magdaleno (Whittier, Calif.) and freshman
April Byllaardt (Stormville, N.Y.) also had four
kills apiece, and sophomore Alicia Chamness
(Eugene, Ore.) contributed 15 digs.
