CASTLETON, Vt. - The
Castleton State College women's ice hockey team skated to its first
win of the season Saturday afternoon, 4-0, over visiting Plymouth
State University in ECAC Women's East action at the Rutland
Regional Fieldhouse.
After a scoreless opening period, sophomore Charl May (Richmond,
B.C.) scored what proved to be the game winner 3:39 into the second
period off a MaryAnne Diehm (Rockaway Beach, N.Y.) assist.
Sophomore Kate Gray (Northfield, Vt.) tacked on her second goal in
as many days with just 51 seconds remaining to give the Spartans a
2-0 lead. Gray converted on the power-play, assisted by sophomore

Castleton tacked on two more in the final period as junior Adrianna
Riggio (Buffalo, N.Y.) picked up her first of the year and junior
Denise Cardello (North Babylon, N.Y.) added her first off a Kayla
Twigge (Almonte, Ont.) assist.
Plymouth State senior Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston,
Mass.) stopped 36 shots as the Panthers fell to 0-2-0 on the
season. Kalla Robb earned the shutout for Castleton (1-5-0, 1-3-0
ECAC East), stopping 14 shots.
Castleton returns to action Friday at Nichols College in a 5:30 pm
ECAC East match up. PSU will travel to Saint Anselm for a 4:00 pm
ECAC East Face-off on Friday.
