HENNIKER, N.H. - New England College's Sarah Graham
(Brampton, Ontario) netted two goals and dished out three assists
Saturday afternoon to lead the Pilgrims past the visiting Plymouth
State University Panthers, 9-0, in ECAC Women's East ice hockey
action.
The Pilgrims improve to 3-5-0 on the season, while the Panthers
fall to 0-4-0 overall.
The two teams battled evenly through the opening minutes before
NEC's Kaleigh Costello (Hudson, Mass.) netted her second goal of
the season at the 8:06 mark. The Pilgrims would go up 3-0 as
Chelsea Torrico (Mt. Washington, Mass.) and Graham scored goals
just 19 seconds apart with just over seven minutes remaining in the
first.
NEC continued to control much of the offense, tacking in another
goal late in the first and adding three more goals in the second to
grab a 7-0 lead heading into the third. The Pilgrims added
two more goals in the opening four minutes of the third period
extending their lead to 9-0. Plymouth State had several
opportunities late in the third but were unable to convert.
In addition to Graham, NEC's Stefanie Lewis (Windsor, Nova Scotia)
and Samantha Phillips (Scottsdale, Ariz.) each netted two
goals. NEC's Sarah Tracey (Aurora, Ontario) and Chelsea
Torrico each finished with a goal and three assists.
Picking up the shutout win in net for the Pilgrims was Teraysa
White (Belgrade, Maine) who finished with 21 saves. In net for
Plymouth State was Lindsay DeLorie (Holliston,
Mass.) finished with 34 saves on the afternoon.
