WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. - Junior Jeff Alexander (Gilbert
Ariz.) scored two goals and freshman goalie Seth McNary (Woburn,
Mass.) recorded a shutout in his first career start Saturday
evening as Castleton State College blanked Plymouth State
University, 8-0, in a non-conference men's ice hockey game at
Waterville Valley Arena.
Castleton
dominated the entire game, scoring three goals in the first period,
adding another late in the second period, and pouring it on with
four more in the third. The Spartans out-shot the Panthers
48-13 en route to the win, evening their season record at 4-4-0,
while PSU, which managed only one shot on goal in the second
period, dropped to 3-7-0 on the season.
Sophomore Omar
Pacha (Boucherville, Que.) led the Spartans offense with three
points on a goal and two assists. Juniors Steve Culbertson
(Bowling Green, Ohio) and Kirk Bolduc (Lewiston, Maine), senior
Brandon Heck (Forestburg, Alb.) and freshman Lindsey Gullett
(Wawanesa, Mani.) collected a goal and an assist each, and junior
Eric Curtis (Grand Rapids, Mich.) added one goal as well. It
was the first career goal for Gullett and the first of the season
for Bolduc.
Both teams are
idle for the rest of the month for final exams and the
holidays. PSU returns to the ice on Saturday, Jan. 3, with a
home game against Becker College (6:00 p.m.) Castleton begins the
New Year on Jan. 2-3 by playing in the Cardinal Classic, hosted by
SUNY Plattsburgh.
