PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Sophomore Bryan
Tracy (Manchester, N.H./Central) scored a career-high 24
points and senior Chris Wilkinson (Newmarket,
N.H.) posted his third double-double in the last five games
Saturday afternoon, lifting Plymouth State University past the
University of Massachusetts Boston in a Little East Conference
men's basketball game at Foley Gymnasium.
Tracy had a strong shooting afternoon, making 9-of-15 shots from
the floor and 6-of-9 from three-point range. Wilkinson
converted 5-of-9 from the field and finished with 13 points and a
game-high 12 rebounds. Senior guard Phil
Bourassa (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) completed his final
home game with a career-high 12 assists.
Sophomore Anthony Matlock (Seattle, Wash.) led the Beacons with 15
points off the bench, while classmates Terrell Maddox (Hyannis,
Mass.) and Aaron Jones (Boston, Mass.) finished with 10 points
apiece.
PSU led wire to wire and pulled away from the Beacons midway
through the first half. It was a 15-8 Panther lead midway
through the frame when PSU went on a 12-2 burst to extend its lead
to 17 points. The home team led by was many as 20 points
before settling for a 17-point margin at the intermission
(41-24). Tracy was 5-of-7 from three-point range to finish
the first half with 17 points.
The Panthers maintained the sizeable lead throughout the second
half, as UMB got no closer than 15 points.
PSU shot 45.5 percent from the field while holding the Beacons to a
33 percent clip. The Panthers had a 44-33 advantage on the
boards.
Plymouth State, 7-16 overall and 3-9 in the LEC, wraps up the
regular season next week with a pair of road games, beginning
Tuesday at Southern Maine (7:30 p.m.) UMB, 2-21 overall and
1-11 in the Little East, plays its final two at home, beginning
Tuesday vs. UMass Dartmouth (7:30 p.m.)
