PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Plymouth State
University split a pair on matches Saturday at the annual Days
Inn of Campton Women's Volleyball Tournament, defeating Lasell
College in a consolation contest after being defeated by Emerson
College in the semifinals.
Emerson went on to capture the tournament title with a five-set
victory over UMass Boston in the championship match. PSU lost
to Emerson in straight sets in the semifinals, 25-22, 27-25, 25-21,
but came back with a straight-set victory over Lasell in the
consolation round, 25-13, 25-13, 25-23.
Junior Eliza Badeau (Foster, R.I./Ponaganset)
again led the Panthers, and was named to the All-Tournament Team
for the second straight week. She recorded 14 kills with only
one attack error in the setback to Emerson, and added 14 kills and
just two errors in the win over Lasell. Badeau also made
three successful blocks against Emerson and four vs. Lasell.
Senior Sarah Spears (Meredith, N.H./Inter-Lakes)
and freshman Meghan Sullivan (Marlton,
N.J./Cherokee) both reach double figures in digs in the Emerson
match, Spears with 15 and Sullivan with 18. Spears also
posted 19 digs in the Lasell match.
PSU is home again on Tuesday, hosting Colby-Sawyer College in a
6:00 p.m. non-conference match at Foley Gymnasium.
