BRIDGEWATER, Mass. - The Bridgewater State College
women's tennis team remained undefeated on the season with a
convincing 9-0 victory over Little East Conference (LEC) rival
Plymouth State University this afternoon from the Dr. Henry Rosen
Memorial Courts.
The Bears (3-0, 2-0 LEC) swept all three doubles flights and all
six singles matches to come away with the win over the Panthers
(1-4, 1-2 LEC).
Sophomore Rachel Elman (Rehoboth, Mass.) earned
the top flight singles victory with a tough straight set win over
Plymouth State senior Meghan Rodier (Francestown,
N.H.). Elman won the first set, 7-6, with a 7-0 tiebreaker,
and came away with a 7-5 victory in the second set. Elman
also teamed with junior Paulina Ucher (Webster,
Mass.) for an 8-0 win at second doubles. Ucher breezed to a
6-1, 6-1 straight set victory in her fifth flight singles match.
Rounding out the singles winner for the Bears were junior
Lauren Donnelly (Centerville, Mass.), sophomore
Jessica Francis (West Barnstable, Mass.), junior
Catarina Rosa (Fall River, Mass.) and sophomore
Danielle Linscott (Uxbridge, Mass.) .
Donnelly and Francis teamed up for an 8-6 victory in the top flight
doubles match, while Rosa and senior Paula Araujo
(Fall River, MA) partnered for an 8-4 win at third doubles.
The Panthers return to the courts on Saturday with a conference
match at home against Salem State (2:00 p.m.)
