WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. - Becker College got goals from
four different players Saturday evening and skated past Plymouth
State University, 4-2, in a non-conference men's ice hockey game at
Waterville Valley Ice Arena.
Plymouth State
trailed 3-0 entering the third period and got on the board with an
early power play goal, but the Hawks answered seven minutes later
to regain the three-goal advantage. PSU added a goal with two
minutes remaining but Becker held on for the win. The Hawks
are now 4-9-0 on the season, while the Panthers slip to 3-8-0.
Junior Mike
Caprio (Valencia, Calif.) and freshman Martin Oberg (Leksand,
Sweden) tallied first period goals to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead,
Oberg with his first career marker. Senior John Nogatch
(Kirkland, Wash.) made it 3-0 for the visitors with two minutes
left in the second period.
Sophomore
defenseman Bryan Horrigan (Brookfield, Wis.) put
the Panthers on the board with a PPG at 6:04 of the third, but
freshman Brian Murray (Manalapan, N.J.) stopped any comeback with a
Becker goal at 12:51. Sophomore Kyle
Tobin (Kanata, Ont.) rounded out the scoring for
PSU with two minutes to play.
Becker finished
with a 30-26 advantage in shots on goal. PSU freshman goalie
Allen Schneider (Strongsville, Ohio) made 26
saves, while junior Tony Stoehr (Depere, Wis.) earned the win in
the Becker goal with 24 saves.
Plymouth State
returns to ECAC Northeast Conference action on Tuesday with a visit
to Western New England College for a 7:20 p.m. face-off.
Becker plays again Wednesday in a non-conference contest at
Manhattanville (6:00 p.m.)
