D'Ambroise (Lowell, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal

lifting Plymouth State University to a 2-1 win over Worcester State
College in a Little East Conference field hockey game on the rainy
Coughlin Field turf.

the victory. PSU improves to 9-5 overall and 5-5 in the
Little East, while the upset-minded Lancers drop to 3-14 and 0-10.
The Panthers had a 10-5 advantage in shots in the first half, but
the Lancers got the only goal at 10:37 when sophomore Sarah Cozzens
(Lancaster, Mass.) took a cross from the middle of the striking
circle from senior Lesley Hill (Raynham, Mass.).
PSU kept up the pressure in the next 35 minutes, out-shooting their
opponent by a 16-1 count and finally tying it on Smith's sixth of
the season at 62:12. The Panthers outshot the Lancers 4-1 in
the overtime, including D'Ambroise's game-winner, her team-leading
10th goal of the year and fourth-game winner.
PSU sophomore keeper Elyse Sedgley (Hopkinton,
N.H.) made four saves to earn the victory and her counterpart,
sophomore Katherine Masterjohn (Warren, Mass.) finished with 12
saves in the Lancer goal. PSU senior defender Lindsey
Hiltz (Manchester, N.H.) also made a key defensive save
early on to keep Worcester State off the board.
The Lancers will entertain Nichols in a 7:00 p.m. contest on
Wednesday while Plymouth State ventures to Springfield for a 6
o'clock non-conference matchup on Thursday. PSU will play its final
regular season game next Saturday, Oct. 31, on Senior Day at Arold
