WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. - Freshman Katie Palasz (Granby,
Mass.) scored the first three goals of her career Tuesday night as
New England College skated past Plymouth State University, 13-0, in
ECAC Women's East ice hockey action at Waterville Valley Arena.
Freshman
Stephanie Spera (Stoughton, Mass.) also collected two goals and an
assist for the Pilgrims, giving her a team-high six goals this
season. The Pilgrims scored on all three of their power play
tries and improved to 4-1-0 overall and 3-1-0 in the ECAC East,
while PSU is winless through four games.
It was a close
game through the first period, as NEC led 1-0 after 20 minutes and
had a 9-4 advantage in shots. The last two periods were all
Pilgrims, as NEC outscored PSU 6-0 in each frame and out-shot the
home team 34-1 over the final 40 minutes.
Sophomore
Chelsea Torrico (Mt. Washington, Mass.) put in a rebound for NEC
for a power play goal at 6:14, the only goal of the first
period. Spera added a power play marker eight minutes into
the second period, and the Pilgrims took over from there.
Seniors Danielle O'Leary (Clifton, Park, N.Y.), Danielle Taylor
(Bridgewater, Mass.), Palasz and sophomore Kaleigh Costello
(Hudson, N.H.) all followed with their first goals of the season,
and Palasz added her second of the game to close out the second
period scoring.
Sophomore Taryn
Moffett (Montrose, B.C.), senior Jessica Donnelly (Casa Grande,
Ariz.) and freshman Jen Vadas (Allentown, Pa.) all tallied their
first goals of the season in the third period, and Palasz finished
off her hat trick.
PSU plays
another ECAC East home game this Friday at 6:00 p.m. against
Manhattanville College. NEC returns home to host Saint Anselm
College Friday at 4:00 p.m. in an ECAC East match-up.
