WESTON, Mass. -- Plymouth State University won 14
of the 16 events Saturday afternoon en route to a 120-99 victory
over Regis College in the first women's swimming and diving meet of
the season. Five Panthers won two individual events each and PSU
had the fastest teams in both relay races.
Senior Caitlin Little (Scituate, Mass.) led the
way for PSU, winning the 50-yard freestyle (26.92 seconds) and the
50-yard butterfly (29.47) and swimming a leg on both PSU's winning
200-medley and 400-free relay teams. Senior Chaz
Sweeney (Methuen, Mass.) captured the 50-yard backstroke
(31.93) and 100-yard backstroke (1:10.43) and led off the winning
medley relay team, and sophomore Brittanie Bradley
(Scarborough, Maine) touched first in the 50-yard breaststroke
(36.54) and 100-yard breaststroke (1:19.07) and followed Sweeney on
the medley relay win.
Also winning two swimming races for PSU was sophomore
Nicole Brodeur (Claremont, N.H./Vermont Academy),
who took the 200-yard free (2:12.12) and 100-yard free
(1:00.46). Junior Lindsay Graham
(Framingham, Mass.) won the 100-yard butterfly (1:16.53) and
sophomore Lara Gruner (Center Barnstead,
N.H./Prospect Mountain) was the winner of the 500-yard freestyle
(6:11.53).
Sophomore Nora Regan (West Hartford,
Conn./Northwest Catholic) went uncontested in winning the two
diving events for the Panthers, scoring 182.05 in the optional
event.
PSU returns to Regis College next weekend, Nov. 13-14, for the
Regis Invitational, with diving set for Friday at 7:00 p.m. and
swimming Saturday at 12 noon.
