WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. - Senior Bobby Kaloustian
(Marlborough, Mass.) scored a pair of goals Saturday evening to
lead Fitchburg State College to a 4-1 victory over Plymouth State
University in ECAC Northeast Conference men's ice hockey action at
Waterville Valley Arena.
The Falcons won
their second straight contest and remained in contention for an
ECAC Northeast play-off berth, improving to 10-8-5 overall and
7-5-3 in conference play. PSU's post-season hopes are fading
as the Panthers dropped to 9-12-2 overall and 5-8-2 in the
Northeast.
Sophomore Erik
Trahan (Manville, R.I.) put the Falcons on the board eight minutes
into the game with a power play marker, his first goal of the
season. Sophomore Sean Buckley (Sagamore,
Mass.) evened the game for PSU with a power play goal at the 18:17
mark, his ninth of the year.
Fitchburg State
scored the only two goals of the second period, with freshman Bryan
Canter (Anchorage, Alaska) notching his sixth of the season at
10:34 and Kaloustian following with his seventh at 16:58.
Kaloustian rounded out the scoring his with second of the game at
7:46 of the third period.
The visitors
finished with a 41-34 advantage in shots on goal. Sophomore
Bobby Vorse (Leominster, Mass.) made 33 saves for Fitchburg State
to pick up the victory, while PSU freshman Allen
Schneider (Strongsville, Ohio) finished with 37 saves.
Both teams
travel to Franklin Pierce for their next contest, Fitchburg State
on Monday at 7:00 p.m. and Plymouth State on Wednesday at 8:00
p.m.
