PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The University of Massachusetts
Dartmouth swept the six singles matches Friday afternoon en route
to an 8-1 victory over Plymouth State University in a Little East
Conference women's tennis match at the P.E. Center Courts.
PSU's only victory came at No. 2 doubles, where sophomores
Laura Donovan (Acton, Mass.) and Lydia
Smith (Marblehead, Mass.) posted an 8-6 victory.
Junior Amy Lopes (Dartmouth, Mass.) and freshman Courtney Morey
(Mashpee, Mass.) led the visitors with two wins apiece. They
won in straight sets at No. 1 and No. 5 singles, respectively, and
teamed up for an 8-6 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Other singles winners for UMD included junior Amber Ubertini
(Dalton, Mass.) at No. 2, sophomore Kelsey Grossman (Holliston,
Mass.) at No. 3, junior Blair Dalrymple (North Attleboro, Mass.) at
No. 4, and freshman Juliet Levangie (Middleboro, Mass.) at No.
6. Dalrymple and Levangie also posted a win together at No. 3
doubles.
The Panthers, 0-5 overall and 0-3 in LEC matches, will be back on
the court Tuesday with a visit to Castleton for a non-conference
match (4:00 p.m.) UMass Dartmouth, 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the
LEC, returns home to host UMass Boston in its home opener on
Tuesday (3:30 p.m.)
