PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Junior Anne Kaduboski (Dedham, Mass.) won
three individual events and set one pool record Wednesday afternoon
to lead Bentley University past Plymouth State University, 166-130,
in a women's swimming and diving meet at the PSU Natatorium.
The Falcons captured nine individual events in the meet, while PSU
won five individual races and both relays. Bentley improves
to 4-1 in dual meets this season, while the Panthers drop to
3-1. The outcome stopped PSU's dual meet winning streak at
eight in a row, dating back to last season.
Kaduboski touched the wall first in a pool-record time of four
minutes, 57.07 seconds to win the 400-yard individual medley.
She also captured the 100-yard butterfly in 1:02.02 and
100-yard backstroke in 1:05.10. Her time in the 400 IM
lowered the standard of 5:04.77, set by Jessica Laidley of Keene
State in 2008.
Sophomore Molly Murphy (Horseheads, N.Y.) also took two races for
Bentley, winning the 50-yard breaststroke in 34.01 seconds and the
100-yard breaststroke in 1:14.62. Freshman Jessica Hodsdon
(Brewer, Maine) won the 100-yard freestyle in 57.18 seconds and
sophomore Susie Boretti (Westford, Mass.) was the winner of the
1,000-yard free in 11:45.14).
Bentley also captured both diving events, with junior Emily Travers
(Brentwood, N.H./Exeter) scoring 203.80 to win the one-meter and
freshman Abby Mathews (Chelmsford, Mass.) scoring 197.50 to earn
the win on three-meter.
Senior Caitlin Little (Scituate, Mass.) led the
Panthers with a pair of individual wins and a relay victory.
She was the fastest in the 50-yard freestyle in 26.37 seconds and
the 50-yard butterfly in 29.38. Little also joined senior
Chaz Sweeney (Methuen, Mass.) and sophomores
Brittanie Bradley (Scarborough, Maine) and
Brittney Gondek (South Glastonbury, Conn.) on the
winning 200-yard medley relay team.
Sweeney and sophomores Nicole Brodeur (Claremont,
N.H./Vermont Academy) and Lara Gruner (Center
Barnstead, N.H./Prospect Mountain) were also individual winners for
PSU. Sweeney was victorious in the 50-yard backstroke (31.58
seconds); Brodeur took the 200-yard free (2:12.18); and Gruner
outlasted the field in the 500-yard free (5:52.86). Gruner,
Brodeur, Gondek and senior Elise Innis (Harpswell,
Maine) ended the meet with a win in the 200-yard free relay.
PSU will host the annual Alumni meet this Saturday at 1:00
p.m. The late Krit Kearins, a former New
England champion diver for the Panthers, will be remembered before
the meet.
Bentley returns home to host Saint Michael's College Sunday at 1:00
