Box Score Conroy, Morin, Harkins score twice each for
Panthers
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Senior Kristina
Conroy (Wakefield, Mass.) and freshmen Jackie
Morin (Scarborough, Maine) and Natalie
Harkins (Windham, Maine) scored two goals apiece Saturday
afternoon as Plymouth State University had little trouble in
defeating Eastern Connecticut State University, 10-0, in a Little
East Conference field hockey game at Arold Field.
The home team dominated from start to finish, out-shooting the
Warriors, 22-3. PSU had a 2-0 lead five minutes into the
contest and pulled away to a 6-0 lead by halftime before cruising
to the victory in the second half. The Panthers won their
fourth straight game and posted their second coonsecutive shutout,
improving to 6-3 overall and 4-1 in Little East games.
Eastern Conn. slid to 2-7 and 0-5.
Morin also collected an assist with her two goals for a team-high
five points. Junior Lauren Bergeron (New
Hampton, N.H.) added a goal and two assists, and freshman
Annabelle Frenette (Old Orchard Beach, Maine.),
sophomore Olivia Colborn (Lancaster, N.H.) and
junior defender Brittany Treichel (Clinton, Conn.)
also added one goal each. It was the team-leading
10th goal of the year for Colborn while Treichel scored
her first goal in 52 career games.
Both teams used two goalies. Senior Tia Mucciarone (Franklin,
Mass.) and junior Danielle Reichardt (Ocean Township, N.J.)
combined for 12 saves in the Warrior cage, while PSU sophomore
Hilary Lemelin (Milan, N.H.) and sophomore
Hannah Sawyer (Kingston, N.H.) combined on the
shutout for PSU.
Plymouth State is home again on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. against rival
Keene State , while Eastern Conn. visits Fitchburg State University
Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
