Box Score Panthers remain winless in Little
East
DANBURY, Conn. – Sophomore Seungwoo Lee
(Bethel, Conn.) scored a goal and assisted on another Saturday
afternoon to provide a spark in the Western Connecticut State
University men's soccer team 2-0 victory over Plymouth State
University at The WAC on Saturday afternoon.
Lee, along with Daniel Sanchez (Canaan, Conn) and Matthew Hoffman
(Bridgeport, Conn) entered the game together at the 27:32 mark of
the first half. Exactly two minutes later, all three were in on the
Colonials first goal in over six games. Lee was on the receiving
end of two quick passes from Sanchez and Hoffman and deposited his
first career goal past the diving PSU keeper Bjorn
Ohlsson (Halmstad, Sweden).
With just over 15 minutes before intermission, Lee set up
WestConn's insurance goal when he initiated the corner kick tha
Taras Zyma (Bristol, CT) deposited into the onion bag. It was
Zyma's first career goal as well.
The Colonials' victory lifts them to 2-5-1 overall and 1-2 in the
Little East Conference. The Panthers, 2-6-1 overall and winless in
the league at 0-3, finished with a slim advantage in shots, 12-11,
but the WestConn defense allowed just three quality shots on the
afternoon.
Jack Holub (Sherman, CT) registered his second shutout of the
season while making three stops for the winners. Ohlsson made six
saves for Plymouth State.
The Colonials host Worcester State University on Wednesday at 7:00
