again
BUFFALO, N.Y. – Marissa McMullan (Haileybury, Ont.)
tallied two goals and two assists Saturday afternoon as Buffalo
State raced to a 7-1 victory to complete the weekend sweep of
visiting Plymouth State University in a non-conference
women's ice hockey game at the Ice Arena.
Bri Murphy (Depew, N.Y.) also scored twice for the Bengals, and
Lauren Mallo (Maple Ridge, B.C.) addeda goal and two assists.
Kailyn Murray (Medicine Hat, Alb.) and Courtney Carnes (Winslow,
Maine) chipped in a goal apiece, and Courtney Orner (Peoria, Ariz.)
and Nicole Laurel (El Monte, Calif.) each collected a pair of
assists.
Junior Bri Davis (Framingham, Mass.), who tallied
PSU's only goal in Friday night's 5-1 setback to the
Bengals, scored her team-leading fourth of the season Saturday to
account for all of the Panthers' offense.
The Bengals dominated play from the opening faceoff, outshooting
Plymouth 11-0 in the opening period and 42-6 for the game.
After taking a 4-1 lead into the final period, Buffalo State blew
the game open with three goals in a span of 2:17 early in the final
frame.
Buffalo State was 3-for-6 on the power play, while Plymouth went
1-for-3 with the extra attacker. All three Buffalo State
goaltenders saw time between the pipes.
Both teams will break for final exams and the holidays. PSU
returns to action with a home game on Tuesday, Jan. 4, and both
teams will skate in the Castleton (Vt.) Tournament on Jan. 7 and
8.
