            NEW LONDON, Conn. – Senior Steve Dachille (Garden City, N.Y.) notched five points on four goals and one assist Sunday afternoon to lead the Connecticut College men's lacrosse team to a 13-5 triumph over Plymouth State University on a windy Sunday afternoon in New London.

            The Camels (2-0) frustrated the Panthers (0-1) in their transition game all afternoon, denying the visitors on 19-of -30 clearing opportunities in the win.

            Junior Ryan Hayes (Darien, Conn.) chipped in with two scores and one assist.  Eric Doran (Pennington, N.J.) and Andrew Freedman (Sudbury, Mass.) both added a goal and an assist for the winning side.

            Goalie Rob Moccia (Malvern, Pa.) made seven stops in the opening half of action for the hosts, and John Lenehan (Hingham, Mass.) had two saves in the second half.

            Plymouth State junior Andrew Eriksen (Beverly, Mass.) paced the visitors with two goals and one assist in the setback, and senior Tim Hadley (New London, N.H.) dished out two assists.

            Junior net-minder Billy Morgan (Winchester, Mass.) stopped seven shots in the first half of play, and classmate Kevin Hayes (Beverly, Mass.) made four saves in the second half of action.

            Hayes put the Camels on top 2-1 with 4:46 remaining in the opening quarter.  The Camels added four more quick strikes in the opening four minutesof the second. Dachille got things started when he intercepted a clearing pass on his ride and fired home a low shot exactly one minute into the second quarter. Just 1:33 later, Dachille connected with Hayes for a one-timer to make it a 4-1 game.

            Dachille would score three of the next four goals before Mike Giambanco (Massapequa, N.Y.) closed out the first half scoring with 2:48 remaining and the Camels led 9-1 advantage as they headed into the break.

            Connecticut College added two quick scores in the third quarter. Chuck Czerkawski (Cohasset, Mass.) found the back of the net with 14:03 remaining. The goal capped a 10-to-0 run and the visitors were in complete control with an 11-1 advantage. Czerkawski won 9-of-10 face-offs and had five ground balls for the winning side. The Camels carried a 13-3 lead into the fourth quarter and were easily able to hold on for the 13-5 win.

            PSU looks for its first win of the season Thursday with a visit to Colby College for a 4:00 p.m. game.
